The Department of Campus Recreation employs over 350 students annually, making us one of the largest student employers at Tulane University. Campus Recreation positions are limited and the department receives large volumes of applicants. Not all applicants qualify for an interview. Applicants who are selected for employment are required to present original I9 documents during onboarding. Copies of I9 documents will not be accepted.

Lifeguard

Job Availability: Currently accepting applications for Spring, Summer and Fall semesters

Pay Rate: $10 per hour

Qualifications: Applicants must hold current American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED

Position Summary: Lifeguards will ensure the safety of patrons through active surveillance, proper lifeguarding techniques and light maintenance.

Swim Instructor

Job Availability: Currently accepting applications for Spring, Summer and Fall semesters

Pay Rate: $9-$13 per hour, based on certifications

Qualifications: Priority will be given to applicants with current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification

Position Summary: Swim Instructors will teach swim lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels in a safe and effective manner.

Club Sports | Application Form

Club Sports Supervisor

Job Availability: Currently Full but applications are accepted

Pay Rate: $7.25 per hour

Qualifications: Experience with sports and American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Position Summary: Assist the club sport staff with the overall organization, administration, and day-to-day operations of the club sport program. This may include processing event and travel requests, maintaining eligibility databases, and communicating with club officers.

Fitness & Wellness | Application Form

Group Exercise Instructor

Job Availability: Currently Full but applications are accepted

Pay Rate: $12.00 – $19.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience

Qualifications: Applicants must complete the In-House Group Exercise Instructor Course hosted at the Reily Center or hold an accredited fitness certification (ACE, AFAA, Zumba, etc.)

Position Summary: Instructors will teach group fitness classes to participants of all ages in a safe and effective manner

Fitness Attendant

Job Availability: Accepting Applications

Pay Rate: $7.75 per hour

Qualifications: Priority will be given to enthusiastic students who demonstrate strong organization and communication skills

Position Summary: Monitors the safety and cleanliness of all fitness rooms, cleans and organizes fitness equipment before and after classes. Greets and checks in class participants to yoga and cycle classes with a welcoming, friendly, energetic, and positive attitude.

Personal Trainer

Job Availability: Accepting Applications

Pay Rate: $12 – $19.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience

Qualifications:  Applicants must complete the In-House Personal Trainer Course hosted at the Reily Center (hosted during summer semester only) or hold a valid, accredited Personal Trainer certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM, etc).

Position Summary: Trainers will help clients of all ages reach their fitness goals in a safe and effective manner

Informal Recreation | Application Form

Informal Recreation Attendant

Job Availability: Accepting applications

Pay Rate: $7.75 per hour

Qualifications: Weight room knowledge preferred

Position Summary: Informal Recreation Attendants serve as an informational resource for general fitness knowledge, gym etiquette, and equipment operation.  They are responsible for policy enforcement and cleaning of equipment in the weight room, cardio areas, and Functional Fitness Gym.  Additional responsibilities include collecting facility inventory and counts, restocking gym wipes and cleaning towels, and keeping all Informal Recreation spaces clean and safe.

Information Technology | Application Form

Information Technology Assistant

Job Availability: Currently filled but accepting applications.

Pay Rate: Based on skillset and experience.

Qualifications: Pursuing an IT related degree at Tulane preferred

Position Summary: The IT Assistant position will work with the Systems Specialist for Campus Recreation. This position will assist in maintaining computer software and hardware, providing technical assistance to department staff, website maintenance and other technology projects.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS INTRO TRAINING SESSION DATES

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Tulane students that are wanting to train for a position with Intramural Sports for the first time or returning IM Sports staff that have not worked a particular sport at Tulane as an official or a scorekeeper.

You will get the full training schedule for all the sports if you attend one of the introduction sessions.

 


INTRAMURAL OFFICIAL

Pay Rate: $7.75 per hour

Officiating Positions- Outdoor Soccer, Indoor Soccer, Flag Football, Basketball, Indoor & Sand Volleyball, Softball, Dodgeball

Position Summary – Check-in all participants, complete scorebook, record scores and information for games. Have the willingness to work other special events when needed.

Marketing | Application Form

Marketing Assistant

Job Availability: Currently Full but applications are accepted

Pay Rate: $7.25 per hour

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must be outgoing, engaging, and socially interactive. Creative writing and knowledge of Social Media practices (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) is preferred. Must be able to attend weekly meetings. Occasional nights and weekends may also be required.

Position Summary: The Marketing Assistant will engage with students, patrons, instructors, and professional staff to gain an understanding of marketing needs and the best mediums to deliver messages. They will make sure all marketing materials are updated throughout the recreation facility, go out on campus to interact and communicate with students about various Campus Recreation programs, and create creative and engaging social media posts.

Photographer/ Videographer

Job Availability: Accepting Applications.

Pay Rate: $10 per hour

Qualifications: Photography or video experience and editing capabilities are required. Adobe Creative Suite knowledge and use of a DLSR preferred. Must be able to attend weekly meetings and be available some week nights and weekends.

Position Summary: The Marketing Photographer/ Videographer will attend various Campus Recreation programs and events to capture eye-catching and appealing images and video that will be used on marketing materials and social media. They will also be responsible for editing images and videos and posting them to social media.

Member Services | Application Form

Member Services Attendant

Job Availability: Accepting Applications.

Pay Rate: $7.75 per hour

Qualifications: Previous customer service experience preferred. Ability to critically think, trouble-shoot issues and excellent communication skills required.

Position Summary: Member  Services Attendants process all sales related to memberships and programs offered by the Reily Center.

Outdoor Adventures  | Application Form

Outdoor Adventures Rental Attendant

Job Availability: Currently accepting applications for a shift on Thursdays from 2-6pm

Pay Rate: $7.75 per hour

Qualifications: Priority will be given to enthusiastic students who demonstrate a love for the outdoors, strong organization and communication skills.

Position Summary: Outdoor Adventure Rental Attendants will staff the rental desk during office hours, assist patrons with renting equipment and registering for outdoor trips, perform equipment organization and maintenance duties, and support outdoor trip preparation.

Outdoor Leader

Job Availability: Accepting applications to participate in spring training, deadline November 17

Pay Rate: $8.25 – $9.25 per hour, based on certifications

Qualifications: Priority will be given to enthusiastic students who demonstrate a love for the outdoors, strong organization and communication skills, and can be certified to drive university vans.

Position Summary: Outdoor leaders act as guides, educators, and risk managers as they take groups of students on outdoor adventure recreation trips.  Leaders are responsible for food and logistics planning, activity design, and leadership of programs and events.

Outdoor Leaders go through a semester long training before they begin to work. This training will be held during the spring semester on Fridays from 1-4 pm.
